Smokers (Hypothesis)

The direct reading of text taken from The Good Book is: Cleanliness is next to godliness.  With my diminishing caveman IQ (sarcasm) I have taken every nanosecond of my entire existence on this planet to translate what that means and I got: What is of God must be kept pure and sacred and what is given by God must be kept clean and without blemishes.

Note:
If you are a believer in either God, The Good Book, or, more fundamentally, the aforementioned text, and have a clue about anything then I take it you dare not beg to differ.  If you do I would have to consider you a nazi (pay attention to the pronoun), but who says my opinion counts?

I happen to tip the scale in favour of the religious folks, not only for ancestral reasons but, more importantly, based on experience.  So I guess it is quite safe to say that I am an advocate of non-smoking.  Besides, I am an utmost respecter of life and being that the universal message on the packaging of most, if not all, cancer sticks is ‘Smoking Kills’, I guess this would make my stance quite logical.

On the other hand, this is the same reason why I am not for killing smokers.  I would prefer to ‘preach’ that smoking damages the body, hence, is ungodly, and hence, is a sinful act.  I could go further to ask smokers to repent of their sinful ways for reformation over execution is the creed I live by.

Hypothesis:
Smoking kills though some smokers die of old age.  It is evident that smoking causes lung cancer but not all smokers get it.  Being that it is not as lethal as cyanide, for those who choose to do it, I guess it’s their choice.  I am acquainted with people who smoke and I don’t try to execute them.  I am acquainted with people who might be smokers but I do not give up my daily chores and dedicate my life to finding out whether or not they do.  Some of the greatest people mankind has known are smokers.  Therefore, condemnation and isolation is totally discouraged.  One such person is Sir Winston Churchill, savior of humankind, who happened to die of old age.

Like any other controlled substance I would think that there’s a legal age for smoking.  I would also want to think it is illegal to either, sell cigarette to persons who are under the age of smoking, smoke around persons who are under the age of smoking, give cigarettes to persons who are under the age of smoking, or ask them to buy cigarettes or cigars.

I also believe that smokers should smoke in their own ‘sacred’ area allotted to them.  Should a non-smoker choose to venture into the zone of a smoker then he/she has no reason to complain about the side effects of secondary smoke.  If such person is under the age of smoking, then one would think the logical thing for the smoker to do is try his/her best to either conceal the activity from the minor or, if possible, postpone the activity until the minor has leaves.

Apply the above hypothesis to any other human activity, and should we all agree and abide by the rules, I guess mankind should be at total peace.
